Winter Time Adventures

The New Year has brought many new and exciting adventures for our Utah Cowgirl Collective Ambassadors. This month we had the chance to interact with the community and share our love for the western lifestyle with a flurry of events.

Take a look at our skijoring adventures in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City and the eight-second rides and smiles shared at this year’s Utah Hunting Expo.

Winter RoundUp 2025: Downtown Skijoring

As Utah cowgirls, our ambassadors have a need for speed and this February we took our skills in the saddle from the dirt to the snow. Hooves thundered down a snow-covered street pulling skiers at breakneck speed. For many of our Collective ambassadors, this was our first time experiencing skijoring and we did so in the heart of Salt Lake City with more than 15,000 spectators.

The Utah Days of ‘47 Rodeo alongside Skijoring Utah and Visit Salt Lake came together to bring this exhilarating sport to the urban landscape, transforming downtown into a thrilling arena of speed and skill. Our cowgirls were front and center, helping with fun activities happening throughout the day such as pony rides, stick horse barrel racing, old-fashioned burlap sack races and even helped teach roping skills to curious attendees.

When it was time for the main event, our cowgirls borrowed some beautiful horses for the opening flag ceremonies and even their hand at the exhilarating sport and soaking in the electric atmosphere. The combination of adrenaline, the roar of the crowd, and the sheer spectacle of the event created unforgettable memories.

Beyond the thrill, our cowgirls had the opportunity to connect with members of our community and educate others about our western heritage and continued way of life. We are grateful for this chance to celebrate a unique blend of tradition and innovation that makes Utah’s Western culture so vibrant.

Western Hunting & Conservation Expo: A Celebration of Heritage & Horizons

Following the downtown excitement, the Utah Cowgirl Collective ventured into the bustling halls of the Salt Lake City Hunt Expo. This annual event is a cornerstone for outdoor enthusiasts, showcasing everything from hunting and fishing gear to conservation efforts and educational programs.

For our cowgirls, the expo was a chance to connect with outdoor enthusiasts and our shared passion for spending time outside. The Utah Days of ‘47 Rodeo hosted our own booth at the event where our cowgirls invited all youth expo attendees to try their hand in the rodeo arena. There were plenty of smiles and a few laughs as these brave buckaroos climbed on the back of our Days of ‘47 mechanical bucking bull to test their skills,

It was a fabulous opportunity to meet so many passionate outdoor enthusiasts. Helping with the expo served as a reminder of the enduring legacy of the West and the importance of passing down our traditions to future generations.

Calling Utah Cowgirls! UCC Class of 2025

In this new year the Utah Cowgirl Collective ambassadors have already had so many great opportunities to get involved and share our love for the western way of life in our communities. While we are sad to see our year as ambassadors winding down, we are so excited to help in the search for the next six cowgirls who will represent the collective.

The Utah Cowgirl Collective is a community of women who embody the spirit of the West. We are strong, independent, and passionate about preserving our heritage and we look forward to embracing the next class of Utah Cowgirls to carry on this legacy.
