‘Tis the Season of Giving
November might be known for turkeys and chilly weather, but it was also a month filled with heartwarming service projects for our UCC cowgirls! From preschool visits to Pony Tales, this last month our ambassadors helped with some incredible service projects.
Pony Tails (Madi)
On November 8, Madison helped with a service project that she had been waiting for all year. Pony Tales is a special service project that brought together kids and horses through reading. Children visited a local stable in Eagle Mountain and were able to read aloud to the horses. The calming presence of the horses creates a relaxed and non-judgmental atmosphere, encouraging children to practice their reading skills and build confidence, helping the kids improve their reading literacy.
Beyond the academic benefits, reading to horses offers valuable emotional and social growth. Feeling a connection to horses has proven therapeutic, especially for children who may be struggling with anxiety or self-esteem. Madison was beyond excited to help see this project through and to witness the smiles on the children’s faces.
Pre-School Visit (Jaid/Falynn)
Imagine tiny cowboys and cowgirls learning about the Wild West right in their preschool classroom! On November 21, Jaid and Falynn volunteered to teach preschoolers about the western lifestyle, talking to the kids about barrel racing, roping and more.
The day was filled with fun, laughter and hands-on learning as the kids tried their hand at swinging a rope and perfecting their own barrel pattern. Seeing the children's eyes light up as they learn about cowboys and cowgirls was an incredibly fulfilling experience and it just might inspire the next generation of ranchers and rodeo athletes.
